The Location
Greatstone-On-Sea is located between the old hilltop historic town of Rye to the West with its cobbled streets and antique shops and the Ancient Cinque Port town of Hythe to the East. Hythe has a lovely town centre and you can hire rowing boats on the Royal Military Canal, dug to keep out Napoleon Bonaparte. Greatstone offers a small range of shops, pubs and restaurants. The Pilot, about a mile or so from the house, is one of kent’s best fish and chip restaurants and i have been many times! New Romney is the nearest town, some 2 miles away and offers a range of facilities that you would expect from a small town such as a good supermarket, bank, shops and restaurants. The Lovely Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch miniature steam railway will take you into Hythe. Other options away from the beach are Port Lympe Zoo and the Designer Outlet at Ashford.
