The Old Stables Cottage, Near Alkham

Looking across woodland (an ocean of bluebells in late Spring!) and the owner’s vineyards just beyond, you are set in the countryside of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are some fantastic walks starting right from the cottage with the critically acclaimed Marquis restaurant and Alkham village not even a mile away. The cottage has been tastefully furnished to a contemporary, quality finish. There is also a shared terrace and lawn outdoor space with outdoor furniture as well as an additional private seating area.

The Cottage

You are greeted with the spacious open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. The kitchen is contemporary and well equipped, including an electric oven and hob, dishwasher and washing machine. There is plentiful seating space for dining and lounging. The master bedroom includes a king-size double bed as well as an en-suite shower-room featuring his and hers basins, WC and shower. A put-up  bed is available to sleep a 3rd guest (charge). There is also a separate utility room.

The Location

The countryside offers plenty of opportunities for walkers and pets alike, with a network of public footpaths across the surrounding area right from the property. Enjoy access to the neighbouring vineyard and feel free to get hands on at harvest time in the autumn! The Marquis is often regarded as one of the best restaurants in Kent, sourcing local ingredients to create a fine dining experience and it is just up the road in nearby Alkham. Both Dover and Folkestone are just 15 minutes by car, giving easy access to the continent by boat or Eurotunnel as well as a variety of amenities and the coastline including the famous White Cliffs. The historic city of Canterbury is within 20 minutes by car for great sights and shopping. London is also under an hour away by high speed train from Folkestone.
