Manor Farmhouse, Milstead
Manor Farmhouse is a complex of three exceptional buildings in a beautiful setting. The main farmhouse is a traditional 15th Century thatched timber framed property sleeping 7 guests along with 2 other properties full of character; Stable Cottage sleeping a further 6 and The Barn sleeping an additional 5 guests with an attached leisure complex. You are greeted with a welcome hamper and provided with toiletries for your stay. Regretfully the property cannot be used as a venue for any events or parties and due to the fire risk of the thatch no fireworks are permitted. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool set within a sunken walled garden (heated between 1 May and 30 September). The property has beautifully landscaped gardens with a water feature and views to the village cricket pitch and adjacent orchards. This property can only be booked for family vacations only and has very strict noise restrictions.
The Properties
Manor Farmhouse: Entrance hall, drawing room with two fireplaces with wood-burning stoves. Dining room with seating for 18, wood-burning stove and former bread oven. The kitchen/breakfast room with small table seating 6 has an oil-fired cast iron range, and to the rear, a seating area and a door that leads outside. The main staircase of two leads from the drawing room to the first floor: Landing, master bedroom with 5′ double bed and en-suite bathroom with corner bath. Double bedroom with 5′ double bed and en suite bathroom. Double bedroom with 5′ double bed. Single bedroom with 3’1” single bed and decorative fireplace. Bathroom with steps up to sunken bath.
Stable Cottage: Vaulted reception area and open plan kitchen/dining area seating 6. Master bedroom with 6′ zip and link bed and en suite wet-room, double bedroom with 5′ double bed and a further double bedroom with 5′ double bed, bathroom. All bedrooms have French doors that open out on to the wrap round deck.
The Barn: Ground floor entrance hall, dining area seating 6. Doors lead to the library which in turn leads to the billiards room. There are two shower/changing rooms, a kitchen/breakfast room with utility area, a double bedroom with 6′ zip and link bed and sauna, study with door leading to the deck. Opposite the main reception hall are another set of doors leading to the main decked area with garden furniture. First floor: Double bedroom with 5′ double bed, single bedroom with 3’4” single bed, bathroom with jacuzzi bath. Cinema room seating 18.
The Location
Situated in the midst of the charming village of Milstead, nestled between the Church of St Mary and the Holy Cross, the Manor House and the village cricket green. Only three miles from the town of Sittingbourne. Faversham is close by and a little further takes you to the popular coastal seaside town of Whitstable and the cathedral city of Canterbury. This area of the North downs which is classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a beautiful part of the Garden of England. London can be reached within an hour by train from Sittingbourne. Famous castles, such as Leeds Castle are all within easy reach as is the beach at Whitstable.
